Tim Ford recently joined Innes England as Director in our Birmingham Professional Services team. With a strong track record in lease advisory and a deep knowledge of the West Midlands market, Tim is already bringing valuable expertise to our growing office. We caught up with him to hear his thoughts on the opportunities in the region, his approach to client service and a few things you might not know about him.
Q: What attracted you to Innes England?
A: I was drawn to the company’s strong reputation in the Midlands and the opportunity to be part of its growth in Birmingham. I like the team’s collaborative culture, professionalism and positivity.
Q: What will your main focus be as Director in the Professional Services team?
A: I’ll be focusing on delivering lease advisory services to clients across the West Midlands and beyond, helping to broaden and grow our Birmingham presence and strengthen relationships with new and existing clients.
Q: What do you see as the biggest opportunities for the Birmingham and West Midlands market right now?
A: The city and wider region are undergoing a huge transformation and whilst investment in infrastructure and regeneration projects is not the whole solution there is a greater level of confidence and ambition in the region than I can recall in a generation. There are opportunities for both investors and occupiers across all sectors if well informed, and it’s an exciting time to be advising clients here.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working in property?
A: I enjoy the challenge of finding solutions to problems and disputes and then convincing opposing parties to buy into a solution. It offers a mix of technical detail and people-focused work, and the opportunity to work with and opposite a wide range of interesting people.
Q: What’s your proudest achievement, professional or otherwise?
A: I am a perennially proud Dad to two now grown-ups – cheesy but true – but achieving 2nd Dan in my 50s after 17 years of Karate training is right up there. Age is never an excuse in this game!
Q: Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time?
A: I am a bit of a jack of all trades. I am a keen golfer, 2nd dan in Shotokan Karate but also like to get into the mountains whenever possible to walk, climb or whatever!
