At Innes England, we’re committed to building a more sustainable future both for our business and the wider property market. As part of this long-term commitment, we’re proud to share two significant updates in our environmental, social and governance (ESG) journey: the verified results of our 2024 carbon footprint and our progression towards Planet Mark Certification, a key step on our road to net zero.
Verified 2024 Carbon footprint shows clear progress
Our latest carbon footprint assessment provides a transparent and reliable picture of our operational impact, highlighting measurable improvements since our 2022 baseline year.
In 2024, our total carbon footprint was 110.55 tCO₂e, with positive reductions across several indirect emission areas, including electricity, heating, commuting and waste. These improvements reflect the practical changes made across our offices and the strengthening of our internal data processes.
Key highlights from the 2024 report
- Carbon intensity has reduced by over 11%, moving from 25.34 tCO₂e per £1m turnover in 2022 to 22.49 tCO₂e in 2024.
- Our Derby office achieved a significant drop in gas usage, cutting emissions from 6.20 tCO₂e to 2.00 tCO₂e through careful monitoring and smarter energy management.
Grace Conisbee, Associate Director and ESG Committee Member, said:
“The results reflect the progress we’re making behind the scenes and operationally. From strengthening our data processes to embedding practical changes across our offices, it’s rewarding to see our ESG strategy taking shape.”
These findings mark a positive step forward and they form only the early stages of our wider ESG roadmap. We remain committed to transparency, continuous improvement, and delivering measurable impact.
Taking the next step: working towards Planet Mark Certification
Building on the momentum of our 2024 results, we’re delighted to confirm that Innes England is now working towards Planet Mark Certification. A respected sustainability accreditation recognised by the UNFCCC and aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative and GHG Protocol standards.
Joining the Planet Mark Net Zero Programme reinforces our commitment to meaningful climate action and provides a structured, accountable pathway toward reducing our impact.
Through the programme, we are committing to:
- Accurately measuring our full emissions footprint
- Setting science-based carbon reduction targets
- Implementing meaningful reductions across our business operations
Grace Conisbee added:
“Joining the Planet Mark Net Zero Programme is a natural next step for us. It provides clear structure, guidance, and accountability as we deepen our commitment to ESG and take practical steps to reduce our impact.”
Looking Ahead
Our ESG journey is ongoing, and 2024 has been an encouraging year of progress, learning and operational change. As we move forward with Planet Mark, we look forward to setting ambitious reduction targets, strengthening our processes even further and continuing to share updates as we reach new milestones.
Sustainability is central to how we operate and how we plan for the future and we’re proud to be taking meaningful steps towards a lower-carbon, more responsible business.
