We’re pleased to have supported Nottingham Building Society in securing a new prime branch location in the heart of Nottingham city centre, which is now open and trading on Clumber Street.

The new branch sits alongside major national retailers including JD Sports, Lush and Superdrug on one of the city’s busiest high street locations. The building society fully relocated from its previous site at Upper Parliament Street following a complete fit-out of the new premises, which opened in June.

We began working with Nottingham Building Society in 2021, providing strategic advice across its branch network, including lease events and disposals. After identifying the requirement for a new head branch in the city, we secured a rare off-market opportunity on Clumber Street. We’re also handling the sale of the former Upper Parliament Street site.

Sam Hall, our associate director working on the project, said: “This was a highly location-sensitive requirement, so identifying an off-market opportunity on Nottingham’s strongest retail pitch was a real win. We negotiated terms with the landlord and instructed solicitors before turning attention to the Nottingham’s existing Upper Parliament Street branch.

“Our aim was to secure a buyer for the former site while aligning the timings to avoid operational disruption. We successfully agreed another off-market deal for the sale of the former branch, with a delayed completion to allow for the full fit-out of the Clumber Street location. It was a seamless handover that shows what strong local market knowledge can deliver.”

The new Clumber Street unit has now been fully refurbished to create a welcoming and modern space for customers and staff. The move reflects Nottingham Building Society’s commitment to maintaining a strong high street presence in its home city.

Prakash Mistry, senior manager – estates and facilities at Nottingham Building Society, said: “Moving to Clumber Street is a big step forward for our branch network and puts us in the heart of the action on one of the city’s busiest retail streets. We’re really pleased with the support from Innes England, who helped make this transition smooth and well-timed. This new location is key to our future growth and long-term commitment to the high street.”
